In New Jersey, driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) is a
very serious crime with grave repercussions. In this state, it is against the law to operate a motor vehicle or a boat if your
blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level is 0.08% or greater. If you are caught, you are in for a harsh ride with the law.
The higher your BAC,
the more severe the penalties.
Your penalties can include:
✔ Jail time
✔ Suspension of your license
✔ Heavy fines (plus heavy fees and surcharges)
✔ Ignition interlock device on your vehicle or boat
✔ Many days of community service
**
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Drivers with Commercial Driver's License (CDL): First DUI conviction will make you lose your CDL
for one year and also a 3-month to 12-month suspension of your personal driver's license. If you repeat
the DUI offense (a second time), you lose your CDL forever and your personal driver's license will be suspended for two years.
If you are charged with either DUI or DWI, it is not a good idea to represent yourself.
It is seriously recommended to get a lawyer. With our aggressive and reliable defense strategies,
